How To Setup a Flexible Worker

This article explains how to assign a Flexible Working Time Pattern and Absence Plan to an employee.

1. Set up a new Working Time Pattern by navigating to:

Administration > Working Time Patterns > Add New Working Time Pattern

On the following screen, complete the required details, but be sure to leave the Working Week Pattern tab blank.

 

 

2. Assign the Working Time Pattern to the employee and ensure that ‘Flexible (No Working Week Pattern)’ is selected. You will also need to enter the appropriate FTE Ratios.

 

 

3. Once the Working Time Pattern has been assigned, the next step is to create Flexible Absence Plans. You can do this by either duplicating an existing Absence Plan or creating a new one from scratch.

Create a new Absence Plan:

Administration > Absences > Absence Plan Types > Add New Absence Type

Duplicate an existing Absence Plan:

Administration > Absences > Absence Plan Types > Select Absence Plan > Duplicate

 

To make an Absence Plan flexible, ensure that the ‘Time Taken’ field is set to ‘Enter Manually’.

 

4. Once the Absence Plan has been setup you can assign this to the employee.

Please note: All Absence Plans assigned to a Flexible employee must have the ‘Time Taken’ field set to ‘Enter Manually’. This applies to all relevant absence types, such as Sickness, Other Absences, and so on.
