How to use the Expenses carbon footprint tracker

Learn how to track, manage, and report on your business’ CO2 emissions with Expenses’ carbon footprint tracking.

Business travel is essential for many companies, but it can be a large contributor to a company’s carbon footprint. The Carbon Footprint Tracker offers a simple solution for tracking travel emissions. Once set up, claimants will see their carbon footprint for each mileage claim they make.

What is carbon footprint?

Your carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions (including carbon dioxide and methane) released into the atmosphere as a result of your individual actions and energy consumption.

What are the business benefits of reducing carbon footprint?

In addition to the obvious environmental benefits of reducing your carbon footprint—such as reducing wildlife extinction and reducing pollution and health risks—businesses can also benefit greatly from reducing their carbon emissions. This can include:

  • Improved operational efficiency
  • Reduced costs in the long run
  • Boosted brand reputation as a sustainable company
  • Increased engagement from stakeholders and potential new talent

How to set up footprint tracking

  • To get started, contact your Customer Success Manager
  • Switch on the Carbon Footprint Tracking feature
  • Once switched on, users will see their total CO2 emissions based on the mode of transportation, vehicle type, and distance travelled
Finance teams can report on this data to analyse how CO2 emissions are performing.
