The Overtime Time Units for the Absence Plan Type determines how an employee's Time Off In Lieu is entered.
This article shows the differences between the two Time Units options:
1. Hours
When Time Units = Hours, employees enter their overtime requests in hours and the system calculates the TOIL they earn using the Absence Plan Type Time Units.
There are two possible calculation scenarios when TOIL is entered in Hours:
1. Absence Plan Type Time Units = Days, Overtime Time Units = Hours
As entitlement is calculated in Days, any Time Off In Lieu records need to be converted from Hours to Days. This is set using the Working Day Hours option. For more information, see: Working Day Hours.
Example
In this example, the Overtime Worked is entered in Hours and is converted using the Working Day Hours into the Absence Plan Type Time Units (Days).

2. Absence Plan Type Time Units = Hours, Time Off In Lieu Time Units = Hours
There are no extra options required as both time units are set to Hours and therefore no conversion is required.

2. Days
When Time Units = Days, employees enter their overtime requests in days and the system calculates the Time Off In Lieu they earn in Days.
