Career Plan

The Career Plan screen is used to detail the future plans for an employee within the organisation. The plan should be filled in after gathering the preferred moves and aspirations of employees as well as any planned moves their manager may want them to make.

This article explains how to add Career Plans, Next Planned Moves and Individual Preferred Moves for employees and contains the following sections:

1. Career Plan

This tab contains the details of the employee's Career Plan.

To add a new record:

Navigate to: People >> Select a Person >> Career and Succession >> Career Plan.

  1. Click Add New.
  2. Fill in the available fields as required. The following information can be entered:
    • Effective From - The date that the Career Plan was approved.
    • Effective To - The end date of the plan. Can be set as Open Ended.
    • Mobility - Select the employee's preferred area to be located.
    • Mobility Preferences - Enter more specific information about where the employee would prefer to be located.
    • Mobility Restrictions - Enter more specific information about where the employee would not like to be located.
    • Approved By - The manager / hr user who has approved the employee's career plan.
    • Planned Replacement Date - The next intended move date for the employee.
    • Replacement Reason - The reason the employee will be moving from their position.
    • Reasoning - The reasons for the career plan being agreed by the manager / HR user.
  3. Click Save and Close.

2. Next Planned Moves

This tab contains the career plan moves that have been proposed for the employee by another person in the organisation, most likely their manager or an HR user.

To add a Next Planned Move:

Navigate to: People >> Select a Person >> Career and Succession >> Career Plan >> Next Planned Moves tab.

  1. Click Add New.
  2. Fill in the available fields as required. The following information can be entered:
    • Effective From and To - when the record will be active from and to.
    • Potential Move Date - The date that the proposer thinks the employee could move as part of their career plan.
    • Position - The position that the proposer thinks the employee could move to. This could be an existing position or you could enter a new position.
    • Job - The job that the proposer thinks the employee could move to.
    • Proposed By - The manager / hr user who has submitted the move for the employee.
    • Reasoning - An explanation of why the proposer has suggested this as part of the employee's career plan.
  3. Click Save and Close.

Note:

  • In order to save a Next Planned Move, information needs to be entered in the Career Plan tab.

3. Individual Preferred Moves

This tab contains the employee's preferred moves for their career plan. These are moves within the organisation that an employee has indicated that they would prefer to make (e.g. through an appraisal process).

To add an Individual Preferred Move:

Navigate to: People >> Select a Person >> Career and Succession >> Career Plan >> Individual Preferred Moves tab.

  1. Click Add New.
  2. Fill in the available fields as required. The following information can be entered:
    • Effective From and To - when the record will be active from and to.
    • Suggested Move Date - The date that an employee would prefer to move as part of their career plan.
    • Position - The position that the employee wants to move to. This could be an existing position or you could enter a new position.
    • Job - The job that the employee wants to move to.
    • Reasoning - An explanation of why the employee would prefer this move.
  3. Click Save and Close.
